Natural granite is one of earth’s hardest stones. On the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, granite/quartz is a "7", with diamonds a "10". And there are hundreds of colors of granite to choose from. Many have patterns and colors unique to that particular slab.
Granite ranked #1 in cleanability when compared to six surfaces, including stainless steel.
Granite is frequently less expensive than its manmade quartz counterpart.
Absorption rates (% water, by weight) of granite range from 0.05% to 0.40%, indicating that the available pore volume capable of harboring a staining agent is very slight. At the end of every installation, we apply high quality sealers to further reduce the stain resistance of granite.
Contrary to widely spread reports, independent scientific studies conducted over the years have found granite countertops are not known to pose a health risk to consumers. These findings are supported by the U.S. government.
