Marble is considered the most beautiful of stones, highly cherished since ancient Egypt.


This beautiful stone seems to glow due to its transparency and the fact that it allows light to penetrate and reflect off of internal grains of crystal. The word Marble is derived from the Greek word Marmaros which means “shining stone".


Marble is a soft stone, easily etched by acid and therefore a less desirable material for kitchen counters.


Marble quarried in India, China, Italy, and Spain represents most of the of marble, in terms of volume, that is being used worldwide.


The finest marbles in the United States come from the states of Georgia and Vermont, which produce large quantities.

 

Marble is ideal for foyers, bathrooms, floors and hearths.
